To vote as a Filipino in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), follow these steps, noting that online voting is not yet available but may be piloted in future elections. Here’s the current process:
Eligibility: You must be:
A Filipino citizen (dual citizens eligible).
At least 18 years old on election day.
A resident abroad with intent to return to the Philippines.
Not disqualified by law (e.g., criminal conviction).
How to Register:
In-Person: Visit the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Consulate General in Dubai during office hours. Bring:
Valid Philippine passport (original and copy).
For dual citizens: Original Certificate of Naturalization or dual citizenship documents.
For seafarers: Seaman’s Book.
Online Pre-Registration (Optional): Fill out the Overseas Absentee Voting (OAV) Form here, then submit physical documents to the embassy/consulate.
Deadline: Registration typically closes 1 year before elections (e.g., September 2024 for the 2025 elections).
In-Person Voting: Cast your ballot at designated polling centers (Embassy/Consulate) during the election period.
